So the season in the Land Down Under is starting to wind down. At the State League Level we have 9 games left over the final 6 week regular season. The top 4 teams make the playoffs, and as you can see from the Standings that I have attached we are currently 3 games out of the playoffs. Fortunately for the team we have 4 games remaining with teams from the bottom half of the league and 3 games left with Perth. So in essence we control our own destiny. We will need some help from other teams but all we can worry about is winning our own games.
State League Standings
1) Swan Districts 19-5-1
2) Morley Eagles17-8
3) Wanneroo Giants 16-8-1
4) Gosnells 15-9
5) Melville Braves 13-12
5) South Perth 13-12
7) Perth 12-13
8) Victoria Park 10-15
9) West Stirling 7-18
10) Wembley 1-23
At the 18's level we have 4 games left in the regular season. We are battling for the #1 overall seed and are pretty close to clinching a playoff berth. This is a good group of kids, and many would pick them as the favorite to win the "premiership". In Australia they refer to the championships as premierships, and playing in the "Grand Final Game". At South Perth the U-18 has won back to back titles. So we are on the hook, to continue that reign of champions.

2) South Perth 11-3
3) Morley Eagles 9-2-2

6) West Stirling 5-9
7) Gosnells Hawks 4-8-1
8) Melville Braves 4-9
9) Swan Districts 2-11
10) Wembley 1-11-1
At the 16's level we might be on the outside looking in. We only have 5 games left and we dropped a crucial game tonight. Getting this team over .500 would be considered a success in my eyes. They have really gotten better as the season has progressed. We have had some games where "stuff" didn't go our way and also have had various line-ups due to people on vacation and other responsibilities. Our biggest downfall has been we have lost all 4 of our "mid-week" games which there is an 1 1/2 hour time limit. Stupid, baseball isn't supposed to be restricted by time!!! Either way, we hope to finish the season on a strong note.
